Twincest My, I was feeling warlike when I wrote that original rant. I'd be surprised if I didn't have branches sticking out of my hair, paint on my nose, and an M-16 named Bessy at my side. Yes, I still think proponents of 'twincest' are off their collective rocker, but I've relaxed about it. It's a fetish thing, nine times out of ten. There may be somebody who really, truly thinks there was a mutual sexual attraction between Suboshi and Amiboshi, but from where I stand, their arguments look miniscule at their greatest height. Suffice it to say, the concept of 'twincest' has become more a cause for inciting giggles than expletives on my end of the Internet. Watase Yuu alluded to Suboshi being transfixed, for want of a better term. I'd agree. Suboshi was transfixed. Why wouldn't he be? Amiboshi was everything to him; he had nothing else. There is a big, thick, fluorescent yellow line between beguilement and incestuous desire. Amiboshi was somebody to admire, and who would admire his achievements, great and small, more than his brother, whom he had raised? The "proof" the twins are hot for one another comes from Suboshi's unconventional method of slipping his brother drugs (taken in context, it was a clever manipulation), and all the images of the two hugging (taken in context, it's fanservice). We're left with fan fancies. Shounen ai slash fans love male/male action, and the fact that the boys are identical twins is really the cherry on top of a delectable sundae. If we're arguing in favor of the aesthetic approach, by god, yes, they're gorgeous together. If we're arguing in favor of the analytical approach, there's no solid reason to believe Suboshi and Amiboshi are gay so much as intimately close, which is precisely how they should and would be. But that's taking things in context. Crazy ol' me. Back
